Video Series

Exploring The Arts produces an educational video series, Exploring the Arts with the Masters, featuring legendary artists in performance and conversation with high school students.

In the series' pilot video, iconic songwriting duo, Alan & Marilyn Bergman, along with legendary singer, Tony Bennett, join ASCAP's Director of Musical Theatre, Michael Kerker, and students at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts for a discussion about their craft and creative process, the relationship between songwriter and performer, and their tremendous contributions to The Great American Songbook. The video was produced by Exploring the Arts in cooperation with The Kennedy Center and was funded in part by a grant from The ASCAP Foundation's Irving Caesar Fund.

It first aired on March 19, 2010 and will remain online in The Kennedy Center's archived broadcasts for one year, available for viewing by students and teachers nationwide as a free, no-cost resource. A Study Guide accompanies the video with suggested discussion topics and classroom activities to enhance student learning.

The second video for the series is currently in development.
